Ken

 

Ken started his musical career in 1970, along with Howard Gregory, and ran a successful folk club in Bath between 1972 and 1976. He worked with Cleveland, Ohio singer/songwriter Paul Penfield before moving to Bristol in 1978. There he met Phil Harris and together they formed 'Avanti Popolo', an experimental music theatre company. Ken and Phil have worked together on a variety of projects ever since.

Ken has performed his songs on several occasions to critical acclaim at the Greenwich Village Singer Songwriter Exchange, New York run by Jack Hardy. He was privileged to play bass on the ‘Act of Kindness’ CD with Teri Bramah and with Andy Ball in ‘Texas Eagle’. In 1993, Ken was a founder member of ‘Club of No Regrets’ playing a fusion of Jazz, Blues, and Folk with Phil Harris, Matt Hopkins and Sarah Dowling.  He also plays for Bristol original blues rockers: 'Mean Blue Monsters', pub rockers: ‘Short Elbow’ and accoustic duo 'The Welcome Parrots'

Ken met Marcus, whilst engaged on another project, and expressed an interest in playing music for French and Breton dance.  He joined Venn in 2014, playing bass and mandocello .

Ken is currently putting the finishing touches to a solo album of his songs.
